Terms of Service
These terms of service apply in addition to our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.
This page contains an English excerpt of selected sections only (currently 2.6, 3.4 and 5.1). The full Norwegian version is the complete and legally binding document in case of any discrepancies.
Payment shall be made either against invoice or by credit card. In case of late payment, interest of 12.5% accrues from the due date. A reminder fee applies in the currency in which the customer is invoiced: NOK 35 / EUR 3 / SEK 35 / DKK 25 / ISK 500.
For customers who have requested a paper copy of the invoice by post, an invoice fee applies in the billing currency — currently NOK 30 / EUR 4 / SEK 40 / DKK 25 / ISK 500. Letters are sent from Norway; the NOK rate covers domestic postage, other rates reflect Europe postage. This applies only to customers who specifically request invoices by post.
All prices may be changed by Nordic Hosting with 3 months' notice, and in any event with 30 days' notice effective from a new contract period. Within 30 days of such notice being sent, the customer may terminate the service with effect for future contract periods. Regardless of price change or termination, the customer must pay for the current contract period. Price changes for domains are not notified by e-mail; current prices are published on our website.
Services are normally invoiced in advance for 12 months. The invoicing date may vary. All prices are exclusive of any government taxes. In case of non-payment the service will be suspended, which means that all information on our servers will be deleted.
Nordic Hosting offers certain cloud services, including Microsoft 365, as third-party subscriptions delivered through Nordic Hosting's partners (CloudFactory Group) and the underlying vendor (Microsoft). Nordic Hosting acts as a reseller of such services.
Service availability: Nordic Hosting is not responsible for the availability, functionality, or changes to the underlying cloud service. Microsoft's own service terms apply in addition.
Renewal and non-payment: Third-party subscriptions are renewed periodically. If payment is not received before the deadline stated in the renewal notice, the subscription will not be renewed and the customer will lose access to the service. This is not a cancellation by Nordic Hosting but a direct consequence of non-payment.
Price changes: Prices for third-party cloud services may change at the vendor's discretion. Nordic Hosting will inform the customer of price changes before the next renewal period. The 3-month/30-day notice rules in section 5.1 do not apply to price changes originating from third-party vendors; instead, such changes take effect from the next renewal period with reasonable notice.
Data processing: Customer data (name, email, organization number, address) is shared with CloudFactory Group (Denmark) and Microsoft Ireland for the purpose of provisioning and managing the cloud service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual server where the customer has dedicated resources (CPU, RAM, disk) and administrator (root) access via SSH. Unless the customer has purchased the "Managed" addon, the customer is solely responsible for updates, security patching, configuration, application-level backups, and for complying with applicable law.
"Managed" is an optional addon that provides the customer with server health monitoring (see 3.4.3), proactive action on detected anomalies at Nordic Hosting's discretion, assistance with standard maintenance and security updates, recovery support after failure, and priority support during regular business hours. Managed does not cover application development, recovery from customer-caused data loss, or work exceeding what can reasonably be expected within the monthly fee; such work is billed separately.
For customers with Managed activated, Nordic Hosting performs automated health checks, normally once per 24 hours. The purpose is early detection of operational anomalies and proactive remediation.
The check collects server status from the infrastructure provider (Hetzner Online GmbH) and technical operating metrics over an encrypted SSH connection, typically: uptime, CPU load per core, memory and swap usage, disk usage, reboot-required status, firewall and intrusion prevention status (ufw, fail2ban), and number of pending security updates.
No customer data is read: The health check does not access file contents, databases, email, or any customer-generated content — only aggregated system metrics. Access uses a dedicated SSH key and is limited to what is required to perform the check. Results are stored internally and retained for as long as necessary for operational purposes (typically up to 12 months). If thresholds are exceeded, Nordic Hosting may take proactive action without prior notice where required to maintain service stability; the customer is informed as soon as practicable for material incidents. The health check is an operational tool and does not constitute a guarantee of uptime or full detection of all failure modes.
Processing of data in connection with the health check is governed by our Data Processing Agreement and Privacy Policy.
The backup addon uses the infrastructure provider's automatic (snapshot-based) backup, typically providing seven (7) daily snapshots. It is not a substitute for the customer's own backup regime for application data. Nordic Hosting can assist with restoration upon request.
Each VPS includes a monthly allowance of outgoing traffic, metered per calendar month by the infrastructure provider (typically the 1st through the last day of the month). The included amount is stated in the product description at order time (e.g. “1 TB/mo”) and may vary by server type and location. Incoming traffic and traffic within the infrastructure provider's private network are not billed.
Usage beyond the included allowance is billed in arrears. The price is based on the infrastructure provider's then-current per-TB rate for the relevant location, plus Nordic Hosting's standard margin for Hetzner-based services (currently the same percentage margin as on the monthly price for Standard VPS). Overage is settled in blocks of 100 MB (rounded up), consistent with the provider's practice.
Nordic Hosting may notify the customer when usage approaches or exceeds the included allowance in a calendar month. For quarterly and yearly billing, such notices may be sent for each calendar month. Such notices are a courtesy and not a guarantee; delayed or missing notice does not relieve the customer of liability for actual overage. The service is not automatically capped or suspended when the allowance is exceeded — overage is billed as usual.
Overage invoices are normally issued 1–2 days after the customer's next billing period starts (independent of the infrastructure provider's calendar-month reset), in the customer's contracted currency, using the same payment flow as renewals. Non-payment is governed by the general payment terms.
